We will take you to the Nowa Huta District that was built between 1949-1990, designed from the ground as an independent city. It was dedicated to industry and gave work for thousands people from the nearby ironworks. It was build as an ideal soc-realistic city, in opposition to traditional old Krakow nearby.
Today is a district of Krakow, where lives about 220,000 people and covers the area of 110.7 km.
The heart of the former socialist realism city is Central Square, which today is a major communications center and the most-recognized point of this part of town and surrounding estates. During th etour you will walk through the monumental Central Square, drink ground coffee in a commie-style restaurant, have a meal at a fast-food bar of the communist era – “milk bar”, you will visit a Mr Wieslaw’s typical house and attend Trabant driving lesson.
The original project has been acknowledged and mentioned by all Polish media, popular Polish Television TVN, BBC, the New York Times, and even by exotic Arabic journal Al-Bayan.
